Kori Breaks Ground on New 68-Bed Care Home in Stafford

Projects

Kori Construction has broken ground on a new 68-bed care home in Stafford, the company’s second scheme for Abora Developments following the successful appointment of a similar scheme in Taverham last month.

Located on Rowley Bank in Staffordshire, this scheme comprises the demolition of two former care homes, Wilford House and Abbeyfield House, which have both stood vacant for several years and the construction of a new purpose-built facility.

The new home will feature 62 en-suite bedrooms, complemented by a range of communal areas designed to enhance residents’ wellbeing and quality of life. Amenities will include dining facilities, a café, a library, a cinema and landscaped gardens.

The home has been carefully designed to meet a pressing local need for elderly care provision, offering 24-hour support and specialist services. It will cater for residential, nursing, and dementia care, as well as providing end-of-life and palliative care.

In addition, Kori is delivering substantial social value as part of the project. Through its Social Value Action Plan, the contractor has committed to creating jobs, supporting skills development, and engaging with the local community. Kori has set an initial target of generating £1.6 million in social and local economic value during the project’s construction period.

Jordan Connachie, Managing Director at Kori Construction, commented:

“We’re thrilled to be on site with another project for Abora Developments, building on the strong partnership we’ve established on our current scheme together. At Kori, we’re committed not only to delivering exceptional care homes but also to ensuring our projects bring lasting benefits to the communities around them. The Rowley Bank care home will provide much-needed facilities for the elderly, while our investment in social value will deliver a real and measurable positive impact to the local community.”

This project marks another step in Kori’s growing portfolio of later living and care home schemes, underlining its expertise in delivering high-quality, sustainable developments that respond to both national and local care needs.
