We awarded a £3,000 grant from the Project Community Fund to RIFT Social Enterprise to help prisoners build the skills to start their own businesses on release.
The grant will fund self-employment support in two prisons. At HMP Leicester, the team are giving residents tailored self-employment workbooks. At HMP Brixton, they’re running four ‘Self-Employment for Construction Workers’ courses, which give prisoners the skills and confidence to start a new career on release.
“Construction offers fantastic opportunities, and everyone deserves the chance to build a better future. RIFT’s work gives people in prison the practical skills and confidence to start their own business when they’re released, and some may go on to work in our industry. We’re proud to support a project that changes lives and strengthens our communities.”
