A roof topping ceremony has marked a major construction milestone at a new luxury care home in Thurnby, Leicester, celebrating the completion of the building’s main structure on the £21 million development.

Thurnby Fields care home, located on Uppingham Road, is part of Cinnamon Care Collection.  The care home is scheduled to open by the end of this year, providing high-quality residential, dementia and respite care for the local community. It will feature 63 ensuite bedrooms and 10 luxurious one-bedroom care suites. Set within beautifully landscaped gardens, the home will also include a cinema room, hair and beauty salon, café/bar, library and lounge areas, and a private dining room.

Mark Shockledge, Operations Manager, Cinnamon Care Collection comments, We are delighted to reach this important stage in the development of Thurnby Fields. The roof topping marks a significant step towards bringing this exceptional care home to the community. We chose to build our 24th care home in Thurnby due to the growing demand for high-quality care in the area, and we look forward to welcoming residents and their families when the home opens, and to working closely with the local community.”

Jordan Connachie, Managing Director of Kori Construction, said: “Reaching the roof topping stage is a proud moment for everyone involved in the project and reflects the hard work and collaboration of the entire team. We’re pleased to be on track with the build and to be transforming this brownfield site into a purpose-built luxury care home that will help address the local shortage of care beds, and will also generate employment in the area.”

Thurnby Fields will create up to 60 full and part-time jobs, with roles ranging from carers and housekeepers to heads of departments, kitchen assistants and gardeners.

The project is also committed to creating social and economic value within the local community through Kori Construction’s social value action plan delivering £3,233,737.06 of social value, ensuring that the economic benefits of the project are felt throughout the region. This is being accomplished through initiatives such as hiring locally, engaging with local suppliers, and offering apprenticeships and training opportunities to young people.

The on-site marketing suite for Thurnby Fields care home will open in summer 2026.
