Kori Construction has submitted a planning application to North Northamptonshire Council for the restoration and reuse of Weldon Lodge and its historic outbuildings as high-quality office space, alongside the construction of a new workspace building.
Located on Gretton Road, the Grade II listed Weldon Lodge farmhouse sits within the Rockingham Enterprise Zone, an established employment area identified by the Council for business and innovation uses. The proposals aim to restore and safeguard the long-term future of the heritage asset, which has remained vacant for several years, while delivering new office space that will support local employment and investment in Corby.
The scheme has been developed following a positive pre-application process with North Northamptonshire Council, where the principle of restoring the site and introducing new workspace was welcomed as securing the optimum viable use for the listed building while delivering clear public benefits.
The new building, designed by Bindloss Dawes Architects, adopts a simple, barn-inspired form using natural materials that complement the setting and the character of the original farmhouse. Landscaping by Xanthe Quayle Landscape Architects will enhance the site’s setting and introduce new tree planting.
“This project represents a major investment in Corby’s heritage and future,” said George Evans, Senior Land and Development Manager at Kori.
“Weldon Lodge has stood empty and at risk for too long. Our plans will restore and bring it back into active use as part of Kori’s new headquarters, creating jobs and giving the building a sustainable future.
Getting the site occupied at the earliest opportunity is vital, not only to protect the restoration works but also to deter vandalism and anti-social behaviour that has affected the site in the past.”
Kori plans to commence construction in 2026, with the restored Lodge and new office building forming part of the company’s long-term commitment to investing in Corby and the wider region.
