Kori Construction has broken ground on a new £43 million luxury care home for Hallmark Luxury Care Homes on Manor Road, Chigwell. Designed with a focus on holistic wellbeing, the home will combine lifestyle amenities with Hallmark’s award-winning residential, dementia and nursing care.
Hallmark’s new luxury care home will offer a range of specialist health, wellness and lifestyle facilities, including dedicated physiotherapy facilities, a Tai Chi deck, landscaped sensory gardens, and what is set to be the area’s first dedicated hydrotherapy pool within a care home. All thoughtfully designed to promote residents’ physical, emotional and social wellbeing.
At the heart of the new 110 bed home will be a dedicated wellbeing suite, bringing together a hydrotherapy pool, gym and therapy room, supported by an in-house physiotherapy service. The facilities will be designed to support residents’ mobility, rehabilitation, strength and independence.
Meanwhile, a café, hair salon, cinema and ice cream parlour will provide welcoming spaces for residents to socialise, spend time with family and friends, and enjoy familiar routines. A general store will offer everyday essentials alongside luxury items, giving residents greater choice and convenience.
The home will also introduce The Residences, a collection of 15 fully furnished suites. Designed for those seeking an independent lifestyle with the reassurance of support on hand whenever needed, each suite will feature its own living area, kitchenette, and en-suite bathroom. Residents will also benefit from dedicated concierge services, a local car service, home delivery and access to the wider facilities and services within the home.
Outside, landscaped gardens will offer further opportunities for relaxation, connection, and activity. A sensory garden will feature a variety of planting designed to engage the senses, alongside a dedicated area for tai chi and accessible spaces for outdoor seated exercise.
Kori’s project team joined Hallmark’s CEO and Chair to mark the start of construction with a special ground-breaking event on site.
Hallmark Luxury Care Homes CEO, Nye Brown, said:
“We believe great care is about creating an environment where wellbeing, independence and quality of life are part of everyday living.
“From the hydrotherapy pool and in-house physiotherapy service to the gardens and community spaces, every element has been thoughtfully designed around a life well lived, giving residents more opportunities to stay active, build meaningful connections and continue enjoying the things that matter most to them.
“We are delighted to be bringing our award-winning approach to care to the local area and look forward to becoming part of the community.”
The appointment adds to Kori’s growing portfolio, joining five other recently secured projects across Chiswick, Highgate, Hampton, Hampton Court and Mitcham.
The project will deliver significant social and economic impact through Kori’s social value action plan, which is projected to generate £31,838,000 in social value through local hiring, regional supplier engagement, apprenticeships and training opportunities for young people, and support for local community initiatives.
Kori Construction Commercial Director, Kyle Fielding, said:
“Breaking ground in Chigwell is a proud moment for the whole Kori team. We’re looking forward to bringing Hallmark’s vision to life – from the hydrotherapy pool and Wellbeing Suite to the sensory gardens.
“We’re committed to working with local suppliers and businesses throughout the build, so the benefits of this project are felt across the community long before the first residents move in.”
The Chigwell development is scheduled to welcome its first residents in 2028.
