We’ve purchased Weldon Lodge, a historic yet long-neglected farmhouse in Corby, which we’ll be restoring and transforming into our brand-new office.
A little bit about the building
Weldon Lodge is the second oldest building in Corby and holds both local and national significance as a Grade II listed farmhouse. The building has remained unoccupied since 2014 and has lacked a clear purpose for several decades, despite its historical significance.
Originally built in the 17th century as a farmhouse serving the surrounding farmland, the building was remodelled in the 18th century and underwent additional minor alterations in the 19th and 20th centuries. A notable feature of the farmhouse is the flooring, which is lime-ash with a reed base, a historic construction method which is no longer used.
Works on the project
The works for this project will be split into two phases:
Phase 1 – Urgent Restoration Works
We’re starting with essential works to bring the manor house back to a wind- and watertight condition. This includes underpinning to stabilise the structure, roof repairs, masonry restoration, and resolving water ingress issues. These works are crucial to prevent any further deterioration and preserve the building’s structural integrity.
Phase 2 – Interior Fit-Out & Community Space
Once the structure is secured, we’ll move on to an exciting fit-out phase. The main lodge will become high-quality meeting rooms and workspaces, thoughtfully designed to retain original features like fireplaces and exposed timber beams, paired with modern upgrades for comfort and usability.
The detached barn will be converted into a tearoom – open to the public and serving as a relaxed social hub for Kori and the local community. The rustic character of the barn will be preserved, featuring exposed beams, stone walls, and both indoor and outdoor seating.
What does the new office look like
To support our continued growth, we’re designing a brand-new building that will be three times the size of our existing office. The main office will be housed in this new building, while the manor house will provide additional flexible spaces and meeting rooms for Kori and the local community to use.
The new space will feature an open-plan layout for hot-desks, complemented by a range of smaller areas with quiet zones, private call booths, breakout areas, and flexible working spaces. There will also be a large boardroom, and a variety of different sized meeting rooms across the buildings.
There will be a dedicated kitchen and breakout area, generous storage, and plenty of car parking spaces.
What is being said in the community
There has been positive engagement with the local council, Weldon Parish Council, and the local residents’ association, fostering collaborative relationships and ensuring community interests are reflected throughout the project.
This project is more than just a new office – it’s a chance for us to breathe new life into a historic landmark in our local community, as well as creating a unique and inspiring space for Team Kori.
