Kori Construction is thrilled to announce its charities of the year for 2025: One YMCA and Alzheimer’s Society. With an ambitious fundraising goal of £10,000 for each organisation, the company is committed to making a meaningful impact for these two incredible causes.
Building Stronger Communities with One YMCA
One YMCA provides community critical support to vulnerable individuals across Herts, Beds and Bucks. Their services include providing support to those experiencing homelessness, domestic and sexual abuse, and mental health challenges. The organisation builds supportive environments, fostering growth and resilience for individuals in need. Kori Construction is proudly collaborating with One YMCA on its Peartree Lane project in Welwyn Garden City. This scheme involves constructing a 100-bed hostel to provide safe and sustainable accommodation for individuals facing homelessness, reflecting Kori’s commitment to community-focused initiatives.
Supporting the Alzheimer’s Society’s Mission
Alzheimer’s Society, the UK’s leading dementia charity, is dedicated to improving the lives of those affected by dementia. The charity provides critical support and resources while funding research to create a future where dementia no longer devastates lives. Recognising dementia as the UK’s biggest health and social care crisis, Kori Construction will be taking action by training employees as ‘Dementia Friends’, aiming to raise awareness and foster understanding company wide.
Building on the success of last year’s British Heart Foundation partnership, which raised an incredible £19,420, Kori Construction is planning a host of exciting events for 2025. These include:
- Participating in pre-arranged charity events organised by the charity partners.
- Organising an exclusive golf day and employee fundraising days.
- Tasking each project site with creative fundraising activities.
- Selling forget-me-not pin badges on all sites.
Elaine Kendall, Head of Sustainability and Communications at Kori Construction said: “Following the success of our Charity Partnership with the British Heart Foundation, we decided to expand our efforts by fundraising for two charities in 2025.
“Dementia affects 1 in 3 people born today, making Alzheimer’s Society a natural choice given our work in building care homes. Similarly, our ongoing collaboration with One YMCA on the Peartree Lane project highlights our shared values and commitment to creating meaningful change.
“We’re excited to work with these charities throughout the year, raising awareness among employees and encouraging them to become Dementia Friends. Our goal is to create a significant and positive impact in the communities we serve, and we’re confident that with the support of our employees, supply chain partners, and the public, we’ll achieve our combined target of £20,000.”
Donna Lawrie, Head of Fundraising, Corporate Partnerships and Marketing at One YMCA said: “We are delighted that Kori have chosen One YMCA as one of their 2025 Charity Partners. It is incredible working with them on our 100-bed hostel project and this latest show of support demonstrates their commitment to helping the local communities we both work in.”
Meg Foxall, Alzheimer’s Society Regional Fundraiser, said: “We are so grateful that Kori Construction have chosen Alzheimer’s Society as their Charity of the Year. Each hour people generously give to fundraise for us, every event they take part in, every pound they donate, they’re making a life-changing difference to people living with dementia.
“Alzheimer’s Society provides vital support to people living with dementia, funds groundbreaking research and campaigns to make dementia the priority it should be. Together, we will end the devastation caused by dementia.
“There are currently around a million people in the UK with dementia. But we simply can’t reach everyone without the continued support of our incredible fundraisers like Kori Construction.”
