Kori Construction has been appointed by Cinnamon Care Collection to deliver an exceptional new care facility in Thurnby, Leicester.
Contracts have been signed for the development of a £21 million, 73-bed luxury care home, with construction set to commence in December 2024 and completion anticipated in August 2026.
The project, managed by Construction Project Management Consultants Fed3 Projects, will transform an existing brownfield site into a state-of-the-art facility featuring 10 premium care suites.
Each suite will include a bedroom with an ensuite wet room, a private living room, and a kitchenette, offering residents both comfort and independence.
The home, designed to achieve an EPC A rating, will be built using a traditional construction approach with pre-cast concrete plank floors and a brick and cladding façade.
Residents will benefit from ensuite wet rooms as standard and a range of modern amenities, including dining and sitting rooms, a cinema, private dining areas, a hair salon, and a café.
The scheme will also include outdoor terraces and landscaped gardens, offering beautiful spaces for relaxation.
The project is also committed to creating social and economic value within the local community through Kori Constructions social value action plan delivering £3,233,737.06 of social value, ensuring that the economic benefits of the project are felt throughout the region.
This will be accomplished through initiatives such as hiring locally, engaging with local suppliers, and offering apprenticeships and training opportunities to young people.
Jordan Connachie, Managing Director of Kori Construction, expressed enthusiasm for the project: “We are proud to partner with Cinnamon Care Collection on this much-needed development.”
“This care home will deliver a safe, comfortable, and luxurious environment for residents while revitalising a former landmark site in Thurnby.
“With first-class amenities, beautiful green views, and modern care facilities, this project will significantly enhance local care provision and benefit the wider community.
“The project will generate significant social value through local job creation and community engagement efforts.”
James Gant, Development Director of Cinnamon Care Collection, commented: “We are excited to bring this project to life with Kori Construction.
“There continues to be an urgent need across the UK to deliver luxury care homes and developing this existing brownfield site in an area that has a significant shortfall in care beds will go one step towards addressing this need.”
The care home, that was originally designed by Edmund Williams Architects and further adapted by Harris Irwin Associates, exemplifies Cinnamon Care Collection’s dedication to delivering premium care environments across the UK.
